Landing Blues

Well, I was down at the landing

When the big boat was passing by

Well, I was down at the landing

When the big boat was passing by

Well, I couldn't do a doggone thing that morning

Lord, but hang my head and cry

Well, I was standing there waiting

See, was my baby coming down?

Well, I was standing there waiting

See, was my baby coming down?

Lord, I couldn't see my baby

Lord, I didn't know what to do

It was so many people

Standing there to welcome they baby home

It was so many people

Standing there to welcome they baby home

If poor Slim couldn't see his baby

God knows, get off the boat

Well, I'm gonna call up in Chicago

See if my baby coming home

I'm gonna call up in Chicago

See if my baby coming home

God knows, he told me to meet her that morning

And God knows, my baby, she couldn't be seen

Yes, I said, "Look here, baby

God knows, is you coming home?

You ain't coming back to me now, baby

You're out there worrying me, where you can go"
