Somewhere South With Rum

Found a postcard on a surf shop stand and bought it for a dollar

A panoramic picture of the perfect ocean view

Sat down on a pier and pulled a pen out of my pocket

And even though we're over, I thought this was overdue

I wonder what you'll think about when you see my name

The good, the bad, the in-between, I'm gon' send it anyway

I hope you took that trip you always talked about to Charleston

And bounced around, in and out of every bar off King

I'm just sitting, watching boats float in and out the harbor

And I can finally say I hope you found someone

Sincerely yours, from my side of the sun

Signed somewhere south of Rome

Down here they say the breaking waves can cure the brokenhearted

It's a tale as old as time, but only time can tell

And as for me, my tomorrows seem to be uncharted

But it finally feels like I got wind back in my sails

I hope you found that middle place and left your old apartment

If you think about it, tell your mom and dad hello

I'm just sitting, watching boats float in and out the harbor

And I can finally say I hope you found someone

Sincerely yours, from my side of the sun

Signed somewhere south of Rome

The tiki bar behind me's playing "No Woman, No Cry"

So I'll just sit and sing along and drink to you and smile

I hope you took that trip you always talked about to Charleston

Bounced around, in and out of every bar off King

I'm just sitting, watching boats float in and out the harbor

And I can finally say I hope you found someone

Sincerely yours, from my side of the sun
