Birds That Flew and Ships That Sailed

I always want what I can't get

It's always close but not quite yet

For the most part I forget

What I wanted anyway

I always see the things I'm not

And look right past the things I've got

For the most part I forgot, what I wanted anyway

I think of all the things I've done

What I do and what's to come

Of all the choices that I make

The chances that I didn't take

Of all the dreams that tried and failed

Birds that flew and ships that sailed

Of all the love that's lived and died

Makes me wonder why I

Always want what I can't get

It's always close but not quite yet

For the most part I forget, what I wanted anyway

I always see the things I'm not

And look right past the things I've got

For the most part I forgot, what I wanted anyway

I think of all the folks I've known

How they've changed and how they've grown

Some are flyin' through the sky

Some are sinkin' like stones

Of all the memories I keep

Locked away and buried deep

Of all the times I've laughed and cried

Makes me wonder why I

Always want what I can't get

It's always close but not quite yet

For the most part I forget, what I wanted anyway

I always see the things I'm not

And look right past the things I've got

For the most part I forgot, what I wanted anyway

What I wanted anyway

What I wanted anyway

What I wanted anyway
