Daysleeper - Live At The Palace / 1999

Receiving department, three A.M

Staff cuts have socked up the overage

Directives are posted, no callbacks, complaints

Everywhere is calm

Hong Kong is present, Taipei awakes

All talk of circadian rhythm

I see today with a newsprint fray

My night is colored headache gray

Daysleeper

Daysleeper

Daysleeper

The bull and the bear are marking their territories

They're leading the blind with their international glories

I am the screen, the blinding light

I'm the screen, I work at night

I see today with a newsprint fray

My night is colored headache gray

Don't wake me with so much

Daysleeper

I cried the other night

I can't even say why

Fluorescent flat caffeine lights

It's furious balancing

I am the screen, the blinding light

I'm the screen, I work at night

I see today with a newsprint fray

My night is colored headache gray

Don't wake me with so much

The ocean machine is set to nine

I'll squeeze into heaven and valentine

My bed is pulling me, gravity

Daysleeper

Thank you

I never figured out the words to that song

Ellen, welcome, glad you could be here

I've been asking about you all day, where the fuck is she? Mhm

That was nicer than I would have been about it

It's my destiny, thank you

Yeah, I don't tend to feel bad, particularly

We're just gonna do this one 'cause we really like this song

Oh, you know, um, the last time I was here

It was other for Luscious Jackson or, uh, uh

Smashing Pumpkins did an amazing show here (yeah)

I was right back there, uh, thinking that the balcony was going to collapse

'Cause people were going up and down

Billy had shaved his head, he looked really good (yeah)

Like a taller version (thank you) of me

Oh yeah, but last time that we played it, was it 1983? (We talked about this)

It was 1983, was anyone here? Was anyone-

Were you here, really?

Okay, who were we playing with?

Do you remember? No, no, no

No, I mean in this, in this venue

No, Human League

On a revolving stage

So, we're set up, we're ready to do, sitting still, or Lord knows what

The stage goes, dun-er-er, and we're like tryna not to

And we did our show, and that was that

And hear we are again, and this is Country Feedback
