First Second

The first second I saw you

Thought, "I don't wanna spend another one without you"

But the first second chance I blew

Told you I'd change, but I never followed through

So girl, I don't blame you for you up and leavin'

Just hate it took you never lookin' back for me to see that

Ooh, instead of whiskey, girl, I should've chased you

Instead of wild, girl, I should've stayed

Body on your body all night long

Gettin' what I should've got right wrong

And I was makin' money when I should've made time

Now I spend all of mine just

Wishin' we were more than just a learned lesson

'Cause I put what I should have put first second

(I put what I should have put first second)

It's kinda funny, isn't it, how hindsight works?

That 20/20 hit me when you gave me back my shirts

At the last minute, when you pulled out the drive

"Would you be here tonight if that night I realized that?"

Ooh, instead of whiskey, girl, I should've chased you

Instead of wild, girl, I should've stayed

Body on your body all night long

Gettin' what I should've got right wrong

And I was makin' money when I should've made time

Now I spend all of mine just

Wishin' we were more than just a learned lesson

'Cause I put what I should have put first second

(Hm, I put what I should have put first second)

Girl, we'd be kissin' on the counter of a place we bought together

You'd be happy, I'd be lucky, we'd be talkin' 'bout forever

If I knew then what I know now

I had it all mixed up, I had it all turned 'round

Ooh, instead of whiskey, girl, I should've chased you

Instead of wild, girl, I should've stayed

Body on your body all night long

Gettin' what I should've got right wrong

And I was makin' money when I should've made time

Now I spend all of mine just

Wishin' we were more than just a learned lesson

'Cause I put what I should have put first second

(I put what I should have put first second)
