Peak Gold

Well a row of shoes hung from a wire

All tied facing west

And a man in a robe was selling silence

He handed me a map without text

And a woman told me that it’s almost time

And pointed where the birds had flown

I didn’t know what she meant

So I just nodded and moved on

Again

I just nodded off again

Well everything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterday

Everything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterday

Everything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterdayDoing holy work

For minimum pay

Well the church was mostly ash and beams

And the light above the alter still hummed

Smoke curled up where the roof gave out

And the pews were packed with tongues

The faces tilted like sunflowers

And their hands pulled at their skin

And they wept and shook and called it joy

And I hoped no one would ask me to stand

I hoped no one would every ask me to stand

Well everything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterday

Everything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterdayEverything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterday

Doing holy work

For minimum pay

Everything is fine I think

And all the colors are pink

And I believe I peaked on yesterday

Well

It sounds like the microwave is done

Think I’m going to make some deviled eggs

Well everything is fine I think X8
