You and Me Lyrics

To further the public’s impression that they are a gay male couple, Victoria and Toddy (Julie Andrews and Robert Preston) perform this duet at the nightclub, accompanied by a soft-shoe tap-dance routine.

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

You and me

We're the kind of people other people

Would like to be

Wandering free

We present the kind of picture

People are glad to see

[TODDY]

Something I wanted to do all my life!

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

And we don't care that tomorrow

Comes with no guarantee;

We've each other for company

And come what may

You and me, we'll stay together

[TODDY]

Me harmony

[VICTORIA]

Okay

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

Year after year

Won't we, my dear?

We'll always be you and...

[TODDY]

Walk this way

Taugh him everything he knows

Oh, I'll get you for that!

[VICTORIA]

Me!

That's why he has so little left

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

You and me

[TODDY]

Ta ra ra... very difficult step

Oh, yeah

This way please

Ta ra ra ra...

That was fun, now what do we do?

May I?

[VICTORIA]

Oh, such a fuss

Wandering free

Sorry about that

Ta ra ra ra...

You got us into this, you get us out

I'd be delighted

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

And we don't care that tomorrow

Comes with no guarantee;

[VICTORIA]

You're leading again

[TODDY]

Oh, I'm sorry!

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

We've each other for company

And come what may

[TODDY]

You and--oh my god, look at that!

[VICTORIA]

You and me, we'll stay together

[TODDY and VICTORIA]

Year after year

Won't we, my dear?

We'll always be you and me

We'll always be you and me!
