My Tambourine

When I was a little bitty boy

My grandmother bought me a cute little toy

A drum with jingles in between

Said, "Take care of your tambourine"

Oh, my tambourine, my tambourine

I do like to shake my tambourine

My tambourine, my tambourine

I keep on shaking my tambourine

When I started Sunday School

To learn to live by the Golden Rule

I got happy and caused a scene

Rose up, shook my tambourine

Oh, my tambourine, my tambourine

I do like to shake my tambourine

My tambourine, my tambourine

I keep on shaking my tambourine

Once, I remember in grammar school

I was talking to a girl in the vestibule

She dug my music and my routine

I showed her how to shake my tambourine

Oh, my tambourine, my tambourine

I love to shake my tambourine

My tambourine, my tambourine

I'ma keep on shaking my tambourine

Soon as we finished junior high

Had my tambourine standing by

I took her graduation ring

And linked it up with my tambourine

Oh, my tambourine, my tambourine

I keep on shaking my tambourine

My tambourine, my tambourine

I keep on shaking my tambourine
