Bamboo Annie lived in New Caledonia

She didn't have no shoes

And G.I. Joe came from Kokomo

With a case of the G.I. blues

To say the least, they fell in love

He promised her a brand new car

But Joe shipped out the very next week

On his shoulder was a P.A.R

Now Annie she lived there all of her life

And Joe was just passing through

Now Annie she waited patiently

Dreaming of a life with Joe

A brand new car and some little kids

And a home in Kokomo

And Joe was out in the jungle

In mud up to his knees

Thinking 'bout Annie down in New Caledonia

Walking in the ocean breeze

Now they both knew they had real love

But their love would never come true

Now Joe was a fighting hero

As a soldier he was one of the best

But on the front line he got unlucky one time

And Joe caught a bullet in the chest

He's standing by his automobile
