Medley: That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine / Suppertime / Teach Your Children / Don't It Make You Want to Go Home

We gon' do some songs

I guess one of the reason why we want to come to this part of the country

Is 'cause it's close to home and we have some

This is the part of Georgia where all of our ancestors originated from

Around this area

And they went to Alabama several years ago

They came and erm, I don't really know how they got there

But this is where they came from

We gon' do this music, some songs we used to

Back early 60's and so forth

In a vine covered shack in the mountains

Bravely fighting the battle of time

There's a dear one who's weathered life's sorrow

It's that silver haired daddy of mine

If I could recall all those heartaches

Dear old Daddy, I've caused you to bear

If I could erase those lines from your face

And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power

Just to turn back the pages of time

I'd give all I own if I could but atone

To that silver haired daddy of mine

To that silver haired daddy of mine

Thank you

Many years ago in days of childhood

I used to play 'till evening shadows come

And then winding down that old familiar pathway

Oh, I heard my mother call at set of sun

Yeah there

"Come home, come home, it's suppertime

The shadow's lengthen fast

Come home, come home, it's suppertime

We're going home at last"

Teach your children well

Their father's hell did slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams

They seek the truth, before they cannot

Don't you ever ask them why

What they told you, you would cry

So just look at them and sigh

And know they love you

And know they love you

Don't it make you wanna go home, now?

Don't it make you wanna go home?

All God's children get weary when they roam

Don't it make you wanna go home?

Whoa, the whippoorwill roost on the telephone pole

When the Georgia sun goes down

Yes, it's been a long time

But I'm glad to say that I'm

Goin' back down to my home town

But there's a six-lane highway down by the creek

Where I went skinny-dippin' as a child

And a drive-in show where the meadow used to grow

And the strawberries used to grow wild

There's a drag strip down by the riverside

Where my grandma's cow used to graze

But, the grass don't grow and the river don't flow

Like it did in my childhood days

Don't it make you wanna go home, now?

Don't it make you wanna go home? (Everybody)

All God's children get weary when they roam

Don't it make you wanna go home? (Everybody now)

Don't it make you wanna go home, now?

Don't it make you wanna go home? (I can't hear ya)

All God's children get weary when they roam

Don't it make you wanna go home? (One time now)

Don't it make you wanna go home, now?

Don't it make you wanna go home? (You know this)

All God's children get weary when they roam

Don't it make you wanna go home?

Don't it make you wanna go home?

Thank you, yeah
