The Last One to Leave Seattle

Me and Julie Ray got married

We were both just 16

Quit school and took what work that we could find

Just got tired of working hard

Wanted a change of scene

So we packed our clothes and left it all behind

We got off the Trailways bus in downtown Seattle

I found a job driving a cab and I worked all night

While that taxi meter clicked away

I was losing my Julie Ray to the honky-tonk in bright Seattle lights

Will the last one to leave Seattle, please turn out the lights?

Those lights are the reason why she ain't here tonight

If you see her, tell her I left for home tonight

Will the last one to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?

Seattle made Valdosta look like a wide place in the road

The bright lights and the nightlife really turned her on

But if those lights go out some night, I still want that

Girl to know a light will always burn for her at home

Will the last one to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?

Those lights are the reason why she ain't here tonight

If you see her, tell her I left for home tonight

Will the last one to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?

Will the last one to leave Seattle, hmm, turn out the lights?

Hmm
