(I'm) Just Being Myself

I get the feeling

You're holding on to memories you can't erase

Now don't try to use me

To replace the dreams that have left a trace

Now what I'm saying

May not be what you really want me to say

And what you're hearing

May not be what you really want to hear

Look at me as a new beginning

I won't be a part of an old ending

No

No, no, no, not me, hey, hey, hey, hey

I'm just being, being, my-myself

I'm just being, being me

I can't be nobody but me

I'm just being, being myself

Don't try to make me somebody else

Just got to be yourself (gotta be, gotta be myself)

Don't try to change me

To the image of your use-to-be (use-to-be)

Don't look behind me

'Cause somebody else I'll never be

Now what you're hearing

May not be what you really want to hear

And what I'm saying

May not be what you really want me to say (you don't wanna hear it)

(But I've got to say it)

But I refuse to camouflage myself

'Cause you need me to be somebody else

No

No, no, not me, yeah

Said I'm just being, being myself

I'm just being, being me

I can't be nobody but me

I'm just being, being myself
