Rickety Lane

Day after day, down Rickety Lane

I walk with myself, aware of no pain

The cartoons of life, pass in review

And Rickety Lane's been travelled by few

A soldier from England so long ago came

To fight for his mate, besides the small lane

While lovers and poets record all the change

And rickety, rickety marked but you're strange

A young girl sits sadly and stares at her stars

She lost her brave husband, last month in the war

And children are gentle and never seem blue

And Rickety Lane, what's in this for you?

Day after day, down Rickety Lane

I walk with myself, aware of no pain

The cartoons of life, pass in review

And Rickety Lane's been travelled by few
