Maximum Living On A Minimum Wage

My ol' truck needs a starter and it's gaspin' for water

And it keeps runnin' hot and out of time

My wife's home a-waitin' for money to buy the bacon

And I just called her up with my last dime

I keep hopin' for the better, things keep gettin' worse

Inflation's takin' more than I can make

When you can't pay for what you're buyin', it's not really lyin'

It's just maximum livin' on a minimum wage

Maximum livin' on a minimum wage

Ninety dollar bills and thirty dollar days

Lord, it's not that I don't wanna get them bill collectors paid

It's this maximum livin' on a minimum wage

The baby needs some new shoes and they just passed a new rule

That they won't let me have no overtime

They're cuttin' off the power, looks like everything that's ours

Belongs to someone else when we're behind

We keep hopin' for the better, things keep gettin' worse

Inflation's takin' more than we can make

When you can't pay for what you're buyin', it's not really lyin'

It's just maximum livin' on a minumum wage

Maximum livin' on a minimum wage

Ninety dollar bills and thirty dollar days

Lord, it's not that I don't wanna get them bill collectors paid

It's this maximum livin' on a minimum wage
