New Oldie

This is a new oldie

Can I predict the evolution of a classic? Yes I can

This is a new oldie

Later, I'ma look back and say, "This used to be my jam"

Yeah, see, I remember (whoa-whoa, hey)

Dancin' all day when I was younger

And my momma came home and put on her favorite song

And she would sing it to me

Yeah, whether Michael or Selena, or Donnie, or Anita

I could count on her for new grooves when I needed

Consider this the past, futuristic history (ah)

This is a new oldie

Can I predict the еvolution of a classic? Yes I can

This is a new oldie

Latеr, I'ma look back and say, "This used to be my jam"

Oh, oh-oh, listen

Now in my younger days, I might've birthed swag

Like wait, let me get back to you

I done chillin' with a thang or two

You know it's real, I only sing the truth

Bad times only get badder (truth, truth)

The only odd thing, let's stay together

Oh (oh yeah), baby maker

I got you naked, it's the makin' of a (oh, yeah)

New-ooh oldie (oldie)

Can I predict the evolution of a classic? Yes I can (yeah)

This is a new (yeah), ooh oldie (yeah)

Later, I'ma look back and say, "This used to be my jam"

Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah, whoa-oh, oh, yeah

I used to dream of bein' on records that they played at the barbecue

Handled some spinners, Manhattan's traumatic

From Marvin to Mayfield (uh), from Mavis to Gladys

Done some' with the best (ooh), to the best

So I guess I'm the status, yeah

My momma played it everyday (yeah), on her eight-track cassette

Mom's played the best, that's why I'm so fresh

And you know that (know that), fo' sho' that

It's gettin' good to me (oh), feelin' like a throwback

This is a new oldie (this is new, oldie)

Can I predict the evolution of a classic? Yes I can

This is a new oldie

Later, I'ma look back and say, "This used to be my jam"

Whoa-oh-oh, oh, no, no

Whoa-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, yeah
