About Dark Side - Commentary

Dark side, um, funny story about that is, I almost didn't, that almost didn't make the album

Because it's just such a sad song, and I, I already have a sad catalog, like as in, with sad songs

And it's very hard, I m-, it's emotionally just a roller coaster ride, every night on tour sometimes

With all these really intense songs, singing them and reliving almost why you wrote them, or

Or why you relate to them if you didn't write them, and, and

So I kind of turned it down at first, even though it was an awesome song

And my manager, Narva, came back to me, was like

"Man, I think that you're gonna regret this, I think this is a really good song and"

"It's something I feel like you would write" and, um

I listened to it again and he's right, it's a great song, and uh

I recorded with Greg Kurstin, who I love, and um

Anyway, he just made it this, it's just an e-, it sounds like this sweet production, it's sweet sounding

But it's just the saddest lyric ever

And I think a lot of people will relate to it 'cause it's about, um, I don't know, being vulnerable?

And that's the hardest thing about a relationship, and every -

It's really easy to love someone that's lovely

But, it's not always easy to love people in their unlovely times

And uh, I don't know, I think that that's a very hard hurdle to get past in any relationship

That's why, that's why I like this song
