Let It Rock - 1967 Version

In the heat of the day down in Mobile, Alabama

Workin' on the railroad with the steel-drivin' hammer

I gotta get some money, buy some brand-new shoes

Tryna find somebody, take away these blues

"She don't love me", hear 'em singin' in the sun

Payday comin' when my work is all done

Well, evenin' when the sun is sinkin' low

All day I been waitin' for the whistle to blow

Sittin' in a teepee built right on the track

Rollin' them bones 'til the foreman comes back

Pick up your belongings, boys and scatter about

We've got an off-schedule train comin' two miles out

Everybody's scramblin' 'n' jumpin' around

A-pickin' up their money, tearin' the teepee down

The foreman's in a panic, 'bout to go insane

Tryin' to get the workers out the way of the train

Engineer blowing the whistle loud and long

Can't stop the train, have to let it roll on
