Have Mercy On My Soul!

When my first wife left me, boy

Put me out on the highway

When my first wife left me, left me

Put me out on the highway

And ever since that day

My life ain't been the same to me no more

I had a good girl

Good as she could be

I had a good girl, good girl

Good as she could be

But the reason that she left me

I wanted every women that I seen, yes I did

Watch this now:

I've been drinkin' and gamblin', drinkin' and gamblin'

Ever since my wife been gone

Drinkin' and gamblin', drinkin' and gamblin'

Ever since my wife been gone

I found the highway

The highway have been my home

Look at here now:

I'm sitting down thinking this morning

'bout my wife and child

I'm sitting down thinking this morning

Boy, 'bout my wife and child

I wanna go back home so bad

And tell her I just don't know what to doI left my wife and my baby

My baby girl was only 4 days old

I left my wife and my baby

And my little girl was only 4 days old

And don't you know boy just one thing

Lord just keeps on worrying me, yes he do

Look at here what I'm holding:

I hope my little baby girl haven't learned to count on a man deading

And boy that keeps on worryin' me

Just one thing hurt me so badly

That keeps on worryin' me

I hope my little baby girl haven't learned to count on a man deading

And Lord and that's what keep on worryin' me

I wanna go back home

I wanna go back home so bad

I wanna go back home

I wanna go back home so bad

I wanna get my wife and my baby back again

I wanna go back home to stay, yes yeah

And then I said to my wife

I said "Baby! I ain't no go drinkin' and gamblin' no more"

I said "Baby, baby! Drikin' and gamblin'

Drinkin' and gamblin' no more"

I was dead home with you baby

Live like a madman shouldI said "Baby! I teach my little baby girl, teach her, teach her

How to call me daddy one more time

Baby teach my little baby girl

To call me daddy just one more time

I been gone so long, so long

And she forgot my name

Please teach her

How to call me daddy one more time

Please teach her

That I'm her daddy

Baby...."
