Sad One Comin' On (A Song For George Jones)

This worn out old six string has sure been a good friend

It's never let me down when my heart's on the mend

It's always willing to play one more song

And I feel a sad one coming on

Some dingy old bar room is where he used to turn

'Til the bottle was empty, man, that whisky would burn

The life of the party 'til his friends were all gone

I feel a sad one coming on

Oh, sing me the sad ones, I don't like the fast ones

Keep pouring me something, real strong

Oh, I'm drawn to the blue side

Since the king of broken hearts died

And I feel a sad one coming on

'Cause the love of a woman saved Jones's life

He put down the bottle and he made her his wife

And he'd tear your heart out when he sang a song

And I feel a sad one coming on

Oh, sing me the sad ones, I don't like the fast ones

I can't bear that he's really gone

Oh, I'm drawn to the blue side

Since the king of broken hearts died

And I feel a sad one coming on

Oh, I'm drawn to the blue side

Since the king of broken hearts died

And I feel a sad one coming on
