To Fall Asleep

Amen

Jesus

Lived in a palace

Behind a ring of razor wire

And Jesus had Lords and Princes

And politicians there to dine

And he said

The first will be the first and the last will be the last

And mercy is a weakness, don't let it hold you back

Only rich men go to heaven

The rest of you to hell

And you should hate each other just the way

You hate yourself

Jesus

Sold loaves and fishes

To the highest bidders

While the people starved

And Jesus

Damned all the rivers

And stole their water

To make his wine

He said

The first will be the first and the last will be the last

That mercy is a weakness, it's just holding you back

Only rich men go to heaven

The poor will go to hell

And you should hate each other just the way

You hate yourself

Jesus

Was so religious

Followed the scriptures

And taught the law

And Jesus

Condemned the sinners

He said go find forgiveness

On a cross

Yeah, the first will be the first

And the last will be the last

And mercy is a weakness, don't let it hold you back

Only rich men go to heaven

The rest of you to hell

And you should hate each other just the way

Yeah, the first will be the first

And the last will be the last

And mercy is a weakness, don't let it hold you back

Only rich men go to heaven

The rest of you to hell

And you should hate each other just the way

Just the way

You hate yourself
