It Ain't Necessarily So

It ain't necessarily so

It ain't necessarily so (what ain't?)

The things dat yo' liable to read in de Bible

I know it ain't necessarily so

Li'l Moses was found in a stream

Li'l Moses was found in a stream

(He buoys for even swim)

He floated on water 'til ole Pharaoh's daughter

She fished him (what this?) she says from that stream (could be maybe)

Oh Samson from strong he got weak

(You know all about it, don't you, boy?)

I know what you mean

Samson from strong he got weak

I showed he could get your haircut

The Lila, the fair cut

She gave him that haircut

Oh Samson from strong he got weak

Oh, way back in something B.C.

Man, that's early, ain't it (it's previous)

Oh Adam and Eve had to flee

Sure that they did that feed in that garden of Eden

But why just to right your means?

Say Jonah he lived in de whale (Cozy?! Cozy in a whale)

Jonah he lived in de whale

Say you never pone?

Oh he made his home in that fish's abdomen

Yeah, Jonas, he lives in a whale

Methus'lah lived nine hundred years

(He was an old bat, wasn't he?)

Methus'lah lived nine hundred years

(Close, but not enough)

But who calls dat livin' when no gal'll give in (What's this?)

To no man what's nine hundred years

To get into Hebben don' snap for a sebben

Live clean, don' have no fault

Oh I take this favor whenever I'm able

But wid a grain of salt

That cap Salomon nine hundred wives

(He was much marry) He was busy!

(Oh) Salomon had nine hundred wives

(He's know for his wisdom)

Yeah, but I say he is dumb

Who take themselves six hundred wives?

I'm preachin' this sermon to show

It ain't nessa-, ain't nessa-

Ain't nessa-, ain't nessa-

It ain't necessarily so
