Frankie and Johnny

Frankie and Johnnie were lovers

And, oh Lordy, how they did love

They swore they's be true to each other

Just as true as the stars above

He was her man

But he was doin' her wrong

Now his luck at poker was fading

When a pretty girl gave him the eye

Well, he gambled he could change his luck

With this lady named Nellie Bligh

He was Frankie's man

But he was doin' her wrong

Now Frankie went lookin' for Johnnie

And she wasn't lookin' for fun

In her eye there was danger

In her hand there was a loaded gun

To shoot the man

That been doin' her wrong

Frankie looked in through the window

She wasn't even surprised

There was that smooth talkin' Johnnie

Kissin' on Nellie Bligh

He was her man

But he was doin' her wrong

Frankie stormed into the barroom

People were jumpin' around

She started shootin' that pistol

She gunned old Johnnie down

He was her man

But he done her wrong

This is the end of my story

And this is the end of my song

Frankie killed Johnnie for cheatin'

She sent him where he belong

He was her man

But he was doin' her wrong
