Neon Horses

Back when my friend and I were younger

In our experimental teens

We climbed in and out of our bedroom windows

Take it to Extremes

Extremes was a local bar

With a workin' class still

On beer and country music

We used to stand outside and pretend as if

We were like men

Grown men

Raising up those long-neck torches

Like neon horses

Hear 'em singin'

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la

They work a 40-hour week for a livin'

But they don't make a lot

They put 40 hours into the weekend

And they do their best to do a real good job

Friday night at five o'clock

'Til the Monday morning sunrise

They run wild like neon horses

We were introduced to our 20s, our responsibilities

And the man looking over our shoulders, keeping tabs on him and me

And the clock gave us just enough time to get home, eat and sleep

But every night when I lay down

Felt like a long rope was choking me, so did he

Oh, but you can't grow tired enough to

Still the voices of neon horses

Hear 'em singin'

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la

We work a 40-hour week for a livin'

But we don't make a lot

We put 40 hours into the weekend

And we do our best to do a real good job

Friday night at five o'clock

'Til the Monday morning sunrise

We run wild like neon horses

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la (born in Heaven)

Ooh, la, la, la, la, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh, la, la, la
