Life Had Plans For Me (feat. Parker Diffie)

Mm-mm

He said when I was ten I was gonna to be a Cowboy

Wear that star and be a hero

And fill Roger Staubach's shoes

I went on to be the pride of Stevens County

And I still hold all the records at Jefferson High School

Got a full-paid ride with the Vols at Tennessee

He said, "I had plans for life

But life had plans for me"

Sometimes you want it bad

Oh, but that ain't good enough when something more important comes along

And you're forced to give up what you've been workin' toward

Waitin' for, chasin', slavin', cravin', and prayin' for the chance to live your dreams

He said, "I had plans for life

Oh, but life had plans for me"

He said I had too much before I moved to Knoxville

I spent those summer nights with Jenny

And we both couldn't wait

Got there, met the coach, and got my number

And barely settled in got a call from Jenny cryin'

She was three weeks late

I didn't want to be a dad at just 19

He said, "I had plans for life

But life had plans for me"

Sometimes you want it bad

Oh, but that ain't good enough when something more important comes along

And you're forced to give up what you've been workin' toward

Waitin' for, chasin', slavin', cravin', and prayin' for the chance to live your dreams

He said, "I had plans for life

Oh, but life had plans for me"

And he said now I got my Jenny

Bills to pay and mouths to feed

Oh, and my life turned out better

Than I ever thought it would be

Yeah, I had plans for life

But life had plans for me

He said when I was ten I was gonna be a Cowboy
