Tea in Chicago

Even if I had my choice

Of living high someplace like Paris, France

Or being socially invited

Down to a most inclusive Memphis dance

I'd take my place along the sidelines

And that I'd wait 'till I had got the nerve

To catch a train to the north

And when I landed, start right in to serve

Tea in Chicago

What an elegant place for tea

Me in Chicago

Stirring up quite a cup, I'll be

Such a lady, when I pour

At 5 o'clock, when they knock on my door

For tea in Chicago

It's not very much to wish

When it's really just my dish of tea

I'll have all eyes a poppin' when I ball the jack

All the way from [?], down state and back

I'll hypnotize the group, until they give that look to me

For tea in Chicago

It's a dream that's turned my head

I've never seen it, only read

But there's nothing else instead for me

But Chicago just for tea

I'll have all eyes a poppin' when I ball the jack

All the way from [?], down state and back

I'll hypnotize the group, until they give that look to me

For tea in Chicago

It's a dream that's turned my head

I've never seen it, only read

But there's nothing else instead for me

But Chicago just for tea
