No Repair

There's an empty chair

There's an empty bed

There's walking past his empty room

There's the last words he said

There's a note you find

In an open drawer

There's touching what he left behind

There's the last shirt he wore

There's over and over, the "what-ifs" and "should-haves"

There's "you didn't help him, but maybe you could have"

There's tapes you keep playing inside of your mind

And there's clues that you've found, and you still missed the signs

But there is no repair

No, there is no relief

There's a greeting cards and condolences

There's a friends you had who aren't there

There's getting up to go to work

There's a mask that you wear

There is wondering if you were too hard on him

There is wondering if you were too soft

There's knowing that you'll never know

But knowing the costThere's over and over, the nights without sleeping

There's weight loss and hair loss, self-numbing and drinking

But there is no repair

No, there is no relief

There is no roadmap, no guidebook that helps you

There is no shortcut, no magic to fix it

There's no glue for your broken heart

And there's no elixir for your pain

There's no solace, no logic

No answers from God above

There is no end to your grief

Because there's no end to your love
