Before We Knew They Were Good

Five young guns

For a force between us

Never more than a couple of 'em run at a time

Bold and bored

Standing in gasoline an'

Making sparks with anything we could find

We love our town

But we were 17ers

Riding Around

Giving it the Finger

Those days we made 'em last all night

Those girls we thought were just all right

Those kids the town misunderstood

They were great

Before We knew they were good

Sweatin' in the sun cause

Havin' fun takes money

Payed for a creasy, cuttin' grass

Leanin' on the front porch

Pouring this milk and honey

Smelling like marbowlers and lawnmower gas

We parked at galaxy after where the mallow grew

To the canners tryin' to show them what they knew

Those days we made 'em last all night

Those girls we thought were just all right

Those kids the town misunderstood

They were great

Before we Knew They were

Kids, birds singing "Waiting on the Wings" and

Learning to fly (before we knew they were good)

One day they're on the ground

And then you turn around and they're up in the sky

Those days we made 'em last all night

Those girls we thought were just all right

Those kids the town misunderstood

They were great

Before we Knew They were Good

Before We knoew they were good

They were great
