The Clown

After a couple of bottle of red wine

The truth finally came out

The words: I don't love you anymore

Spilled from his mouth

So I looked to the waiter for some consolation

But he just poured the coffee,

And without hesitation he said:

Ma'am, is that all you'll be needing tonight?

And oh, the piano kept playing

And nobody noticed the heart in the corner booth breaking

Cell phones kept ringing, glasses were clinking

Everyone laughing and dancing and singing

So I painted a smile on my face to cover the frown

In that room full of jokers and jesters

I was the clown

Well, you can't walk the high wire of love and be afraid to fall

And you can't put all of your faith in a gypsy's crystal ball
