I Wish I Didn't Love You So - Alternate Vocal Version

I still recall when we first met

That very night I can't forget

And I could feel the way you move

I knew right then you fit my groove

I should have known, oh, by the past

That this here love just couldn't last

You said you'd never say bye-bye

You told a lie, you told a lie

You made me need you more each day

You took care of business and did not play

Now you want me to give you up

I just can't drink that bitter cup

I just can't get you off my mind

Without your love, I'm slowly dying

I need you so, can't let you go

I should be smiling by now, oh, my love

With some new tender friend

Ah, smiling by now, with my heart on the mend

And when I try, oh, when I try

Heard something in my heart say, "No, no"

You're still here, yeah, you're with me, baby

I wish, yeah, I wish I didn't love you so, ah, baby

No, no, but I do, baby

I love you (yeah), love you so, ooh

Wish I didn't need your love
