Devil I've Been

Well I ran down to the Calico Creek

Where the crystal water pools up deep

And I jumped on in to rinse my sins

Tryin' to wash off the devil I've been

I didn't wanna do what I had to do

But if you'd been there, it could have been you

Now the man I was is closing in

Tryin' to catch me for the devil I've been

Lord, I know you hear me

Just know I'm runnin' to get back home

Right now I need some savin'

Some kind of amen, this much I know

Hell's on my heels, I'm a wanted man

I'm kickin' this dirt as fast as I can

And prayin' them gates will let me in

For tryin' to outrun the devil I've been

Ain't no time for slowin' down

To catch my breath or turn around

It's back there knowing I'm heaven bound hopin' that I slip

I've done some things that I can't change

My past is just two steps away

But I'll keep lookin' straight ahead

I'm still alive, it ain't caught me yet

Lord, I know you hear me

Just know I'm runnin' to get back home

Right now I need some savin'

Some kind of amen, this much I know

Hell's on my heels, I'm a wanted man

I'm kickin' this dirt as fast as I can

And prayin' them gates will let me in

For tryin' to outrun the devil I've been

Lord, I know you hear me

Just know I'm runnin' to get back home

Right now I need some savin'

Some kind of amen, this much I know

Hell's on my heels, I'm a wanted man

I'm kickin' this dirt fast as I can

And prayin' them gates will let me in

For trying to outrun the devil I've been

Tryin' to outrun the devil I've been

Lord, tryin' to outrun the devil I've been

Oh, the devil I've been

Just tryin' to outrun the devil I've been
