Hey Driver (feat. The War and Treaty) - Live From Washington, D.C.

Hey, so I wrote this song one time with some really, really great people

I left an award show, and they had performed it, and, um

They were two of the sweetest people I'd ever met my entire life

And, uh, their names were Tanya and Mike, and I hated the award show, loved them

And they've become family to me, truly, they're so sweet

And, um, we're lucky enough to have 'em here tonight

So, uh, I have no idea where they're at

We love you Zach (Hi, Mike)

This is your song, Mike, let's do it

Oh, hell yeah, D.C.

So take me down a road that's a little bit windy

To a place they still put sugar in their iced tea

Where the women are fine and the love is fair

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, pull on over

I'm in a fight with God

This Carolina shoulder

Seems the place I'm gettin' off

Well, Daddy always told me

"Never make a home on the road

While your lady's sneakin' out

And the kids are growin' old"

Hey, driver, I've been ridin'

This lonely too damn long

All the love I had worth givin'

Was all spent on my songs

Hey, driver, the boys are gamblin'

With more than just their cards

With their bottles and their drugs

And their Bibles and their hearts

Take me down a road that's a little bit windy

To a place they still put sugar in their iced tea

Where the women are fine and the love is fair

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, I've been feelin'

Like there's no point at all

The Klonopin ain't kicked in

And I missed my sister's call

Hey, driver, I'm so tired

Of the ways of this old world

Just drive until the tires melt

We'll come back when it's healed

Take me down a road that's a little bit windy

To a place they still put sugar in their iced tea

Where the women are fine and the love is fair

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

(Take it away, Mike, let's go)

So take me down a road that's a little bit windy (you got us, D.C.?)

To a place they still put sugar in their iced tea

Where the women are fine and the love is fair

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

Hey, driver, you can drop me off anywhere

D.C.

The best, huh?
