It's a Big Old Goofy World - Live

Well, well, well did we have a good night or what?

I love it, because I

I came to this town with, uh, with an acoustic guitar, and uh

Don't know what the hell was going to happen, and

And Chicago loved me, and I love it back, and I always have, thank you very much

A couple o' years ago we played this love place across town called "Riggly Field," and uh

When we closed that show, uh, I always do a Steve Goodman song, and uhm

I did over there, but I thought tonight in another stadium, on another side o' town

Another great friend o' mine from Chicago, uh, kinda summed it all up

So, uh, here's a little John Prian song for you to-, to close the night out, and-

Big Old Goofy World

Think about it

Up in the morning

I work like a dog

It's better than sittin'

Like a bump on a log

Mind all your manners

Be quiet as a mouse

Some day, you'll own a home

That's as big as a house

Now I know a fella

He eats like a horse

Knocks his old balls

Around the old golf course

Billy Sherrill

Hey, you oughta see his wife

She's a cute little dish

She smokes like a chimney

Drinks like a fish

Hey, there's a big old goofy man

Dancing with a big old goofy girl

Ooh, baby

It's a big old goofy world

Now Elvis had a woman

With a head like a rock

I wished I had a woman

That could made my knees knock

She'd sing like an angel

And she eat like a bird

And if I wrote a song

She'd know ever single word

So, you kiss a little baby

And you give the world a smile

If you take an inch

You give 'em back a mile

'Cause if you lie like a rug

And you don't give a damn

You're never gonna be

Happy as a clam

And there's a big old goofy man

Dancing with a big old goofy girl

Ooh, baby

It's a big old goofy world

So, I'm sittin' in my hotel

Always trying to write a song

But my head is as empty

As the day is long

Why, it's clear as a bell

I should have stayed in school

I'd be wiser than an owl

Instead of stubborn as a mule

Yeah, and there's a big old goofy man

Dancing with a big old goofy girl

Ooh, baby

We live in a big old goofy world

I love it!

Yeah, big old goofy crowd

Dancing with a big old goofy girl

Hey, Chicago!

It's a big old goofy world

Hey baby, It's a big old goofy world

But it's the only one we got!

Take care!

We'll see some of you Saturday night, have a nice summer
