Sir Thomas Beecham
سِر توماس بیچام (۱۸۷۹–۱۹۶۱) از برجسته‌ترین رهبران ارکستر سدهٔ بیستم بود که با اجراها و ضبط‌های اثرگذار، و نیز با بنیان‌گذاری چند ارکستر مهم در لندن، سهمی تعیین‌کننده در گسترش مخاطبان موسیقی کلاسیک داشت. او در خانواده‌ای مرفه پرورش یافت و با وجود تحصیل در آکسفورد، در موسیقی تا حد زیادی خودآموخته بود. از اوایل دههٔ ۱۹۰۰ با هدایت گروه‌های اپرایی و سپس ارکسترهای لندن مطرح شد و با اتکا به توان مدیریتی
