لئو دِلیبِس آهنگساز برجستهٔ فرانسویِ قرن نوزدهم است که با نگاهی اپرایی به موسیقیِ باله، به این ژانر جان تازه‌ای بخشید. او از نخستین کسانی بود که برای یک بالهٔ بلند، پارتیتوری کامل و دقیق با ملودی‌های به‌یادماندنی و ارکستراسیونی درخشان نوشت؛ رویکردی که جایگاه موسیقیِ باله را هم‌تراز با دستاوردهای اپرا ارتقا داد. در کنار آثار نمایشی، اپرای Lakmé شناخته‌شده‌ترین اثر اوست که با آریای «Bell Song» و
